The review was commissioned in March 2016 to identify loopholes and weaknesses that could lead to inefficiencies and corruption in the pricing process at the acquisition and dispensing stages.
Receiving the Report from the EACC Chairman, Rtd Archbishop Dr. Eliud Wabukala the CS for Health Sicily Kariuki said the report is timely because it will assist the Ministry in strengthening regulatory functions towards achievement of three pillars of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) namely accessibility, quality & affordability of health services and health commodities.
The report findings indicate that systemic weaknesses and opportunities exist in the procurement and dispensing stages of pharmaceutical and non- pharmaceutical supplies in the public sector which the CS assured they will be addressed.
